So what exactly is a typewriter and a computer?
A typewriter is a machine were anyone can use it without having to know anything about menus and settings and preferences, and without needing any kind of experience or knowledge of specific programs. It is a machine in the true sense of the word. It is also a MECHANICAL device requiring certain effort or imput on the part of the operator, in order to perform its function.
A computer on the other hand is NOT mechanical, it is an electronic device.
It is also capable of making calculations and some decisions without the
direct imput or effort of the operator, it can perform calculations and do other tasks.
Both Computers and Typewriters are useful in office and school works. They made every task presentable, nice, and clean. But both have its advantages and disadvantages over the other here are the list:
Advantages of Typewriters:
Completing Forms
• Typewriters provide the precision and pressure required to complete forms correctly and make legible carbon copies.
Aesthetic Enjoyment
• Typewriters are beautiful machines invented from the past so it still has its majestic touch unlike disposable computer equipment, typewriters make interesting and attractive conversation pieces.
Long Lasting
• Typewriters are extremely durable and long lasting. This is evidenced by the fact that there are countless typewriters sitting in basements and attics, unused in decades but still in perfect working order.
Low Price
• It is affordable unlike those brand new electric computers were you always have to upgrade to perform better.
Trouble Free
• Computers, are subject to viruses, bugs, and hardware troubles. The only bugs found in typewriters are the occasional spider looking for a home in the attic. The extent of a hardware problem in a typewriter generally consists of unjamming the keys.
Self-printing
• Computers are known for their ability to perform multiple functions simultaneously, but they cannot print without access to a printer. A typewriter, on the other hand, only performs two functions, but it conducts them simultaneously, printing each letter as it is written.
Advantages of Computers:
Multi-functional
• In computers, you can do many things like, play games, send emails, computing numbers, can detect errors,can be used for surfing the web, learning, communicating and entertainment.
Perform faster
• It can do your task easily as compared to a normal typewriter where you have to input everything. Unlike computers, you can just copy and paste every text document or graphics that you needed. It can also print faster than a typewriter
Less Error and More Presentable
• By using computers, your chance of having an error in whatever your doing decreases because it has an eraser(delete and edit command) function where in you can easily erase or add the text or graphics that you needed for your work so it makes it more presentable.
With all the facts presented, I can only agree that both computers and typewriters are important tools that we should all value.
